A.J. earned his finance and accounting expertise through more than a decade of work, including seven years in public accounting, 6 of which were spent rising through the ranks at PwC. While at PwC, he worked closely with many clients, including some of the most recognizable names in Georgia business.
A.J. holds Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Accountancy and is a certified public accountant. After starting his career in audit, he leveraged his skills into joining the PwC financial due diligence team, working on both the buy-side and sell-side of transactions. A.J. also worked in the capital markets and advisory group, assisting companies with technical accounting and special circumstances. His Big Four tenure helped him develop a broad set of core competencies encompassing financial due diligence, scalable processes for growth, mergers, and acquisitions, IPOs, tax matters, technical accounting, and more.
After leaving PwC, A.J. served in corporate controller roles at companies in various stages of life. Each company’s operations were very different, but all had the same goal for A.J.; focus on people, process, and technology to elevate CFO-led departments (finance and accounting, human resources, and corporate IT) to be leaders in the organization. With his success in achieving his goal each time, he often was utilized to lead special projects, including opening international offices, achieving IT security certifications, and leading board committees.
His trajectory from the public into corporate accounting – along with years of experience raising capital, building finance and accounting departments, and advising executives at the highest levels – has given A.J. a comprehensive understanding of every side of the finance and accounting equation. With experience spanning everything from helping startups chart their future to presiding over nine-figure capital transactions, he brings a unique perspective to the intersect between finance and accounting and operations.
